caught in the act...

three words: i love webcams. especially the webcams at mason's "school." we really feel like we get to be a part of his day by checking in on him (and we get to monitor how closely they stick to his schedule!) my days at work are getting more and more busy, so i don't get to check in that frequently, but mason's grammy caught a pretty funny episode yesterday. so funny she had to call and leave me a play-by-play voicemail.

it was time for mason's bottle. everyone was on schedule and ms. sarah sat down in the glider to begin feeding him. all appeared to be going well, until she suddenly looked down at him, then put the bottle down. she leaned in closer for inspection. then jumped up, headed straight for the changing table. mason gets stripped down. ms. sarah takes her own smock off and tosses it on the floor. diaper change continues. they return to bottle feeding. after the bottle feeding, she disappears from the room for a few minutes (others were there to supervise) and comes back wearing (head-to-toe) an altogether different outfit. hmm... wonder what that was about?! :)

thankfully ms. sarah has a sense of humor (and carries a change of clothes). and while we aren't sure how mason defies the mechanics of the diaper with geyser-like performances, we regretfully admit that this is not the first time it has happened. it just happens to be the first time he's "surprised" someone else!

try this one on for size...

with the weather in houston fluctuating between 70 degrees one day and the 30s the next, we decided that mason needed a couple of hats to keep his noggin warm. he tried a few on for size and well, by the expression on his face, wasn't exactly impressed. i'm sure he'll appreciate them much more when he's outside!

compliments of grammy...

3 months!

yesterday was mason's 3 month birthday! it's hard to believe that our little man is growing up so fast! he's gone from a cuddly newborn who loved to sleep on your chest to a wiggly, giggly 3 month old. while he still loves his playmat and friends, his new favorite activities are super-baby (aka airplane), riding the horsey (as you saw in the video), and dancing with mommy.

he's also turned into a bit of a drooler, ok... so "a bit" is an understatement. we've graduated to the perma-bib which we take off at the last minute for any pictures. otherwise, we'd have a baby with a constantly damp chest and would be changing his clothes at least 5 times a day. bibs are great.

to commemorate his growth (and get a good christmas photo), we recently had a photo shoot with mackenzie wheatley of chubbyfoot photography. we've admired her work for years and finally have a really cute reason to use her services.

we continue to be amazed by how blessed we are to be mason's parents. God is good.

a big week

it was a big week in the reece household. mason started day care on monday. kammy returned to work on tuesday. and brad, after surviving 3 previous rounds of layoffs at work, was let go on wednesday. thursday was a whirlwind, and thank God it's friday (which coincides with mason's 3 month birthday)!! we like to live by the "go big or go home" motto, but i think next week we'll just settle for something more mediocre!

through it all, we're holding up well. mason is slowly adjusting to more "stimulating" days (aka not eating or sleeping at day care), and i'm getting back into the swing of things at work. brad is hitting the ground running in his new job search, with a couple of interviews already scheduled for next week. worth noting is that despite the ups and downs of this week, i have truly felt the peace of God, which transcends all understanding (thanks for the prayers!)

we ask that you would continue to keep us in your prayers as the month unfolds - especially that we would be reminded of the true reason for the christmas season, that brad would find the right opportunity, and that our family would bask in the blessings that surround us.

p.s. if anyone knows of any openings in the houston area in sales, please let brad know! :)
