we had our latest dr.'s appointment on thursday and got to hear baby m's heartbeat again (still a very cool experience), and this time we even recorded it! click on the white box to the left to hear it yourself, not real sure what the last 5 seconds of sound is unless aliens impregnated kammy! the baby's ticker currently beats around 156 beats per minute (well within the normal range of 120-160). everything else is looking good - kammy's weight gain is normal (a whopping 2 pounds in 4 weeks, for a total of 6 pounds). the morning sickness should be on its way out (no pun intended) with energy boosts just around the bend. we also only have 5 more weeks until we know if baby m is a boy or girl!
as for baby m's development, here's what we can expect this week: baby m can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! thanks to brain impulses, the baby's facial muscles are getting a workout as his/her tiny features form one expression after another. baby m is also stretching out. from head to bottom, s/he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and s/he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. baby m's body is growing faster than his/her head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. by the end of this week, his/her arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his/her body.
in other news, brad made it back in one piece from his umpire training in atlanta. while he was gone, kammy's sister kasey surprised her with guitar hero for xbox 360 (the coolest game ever!) kammy also just returned from her trip to jackson to meet the newest member of the childs family - baby cole. she had lots of time to visit with her friend jennifer and hug on the new baby and his big sister kelby. she has just enough time to unpack the suitcase before loading it up again for a work trip to ohio and louisiana. pray for no morning sickness (and pants that still fit) on this whirlwind trip.
