it's official - nothing fits me anymore. while it is such a miracle for a little person to be growing inside me, i must admit it is a bit of a blow to the self-esteem for the clothes that once fit so well to not even come close to buttoning. so, after stuffing myself in my clothes and suffering miserably for about a week, i took the plunge and bought the elastic-waist pants. and boy are they wonderful! fashionable, not so much; but comfortable, oh yes!
so the story goes... the good news is that the all-day sickness has all but gone away, just leaving behind a touch of nausea in the morning (but huge improvement from the first trimester!) we've decided that baby m is not a morning person -- the baby hates when mommy gets up to an alarm clock!
as for baby m's progress, here's what we can expect this week... at 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, baby m is about the size of an avocado. in the next three weeks, the baby will go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling his/her weight and adding inches to her/his length. baby m's lower limbs are much more developed now. the baby's head is more erect than it has been, and her/his eyes have moved toward the front of her head. some of baby m's more advanced body systems are working, including his/her circulatory system and urinary tract. baby m's heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating her/his total blood volume through the body many times.

Brad, have you purchased a few pairs of the Dockers with the elastic waistband? If your wife gets to wear elastic pants you should too!
FYI... your comparing baby M to food is both disturbing and tantilizing. I could definitely go for some guacamole right now. Must be getting too close to lunch.
