as you can imagine, mason was not the most quiet guest on the tour. he and the one other kid on the tour took turns squirming and crying out. when it finally got to the point that i thought it was disruptive, i tried to escape the tour unnoticed (something about mason chunking his pacifier at 350+ year old antiques). it was not to be. the tour guide turned, looked at me, and said "where do you think you're going?" i responded, "well, it appears that my child is being a bit disruptive, so i thought i would go outside for a few minutes so the rest of you can enjoy the tour."
"you're not going anywhere." what?? keep in mind that this is the same lady who moments ago was shooting mason and me looks to be quiet. and now we were banned from leaving? i'm still not sure what that was about, but lucky us, we remained in the tour... squirms, squeals, whines, and all.
we survived and the tour finally came to an end. i normally love these types of tours. but after wrestling a 22 pounder for 45 minutes, i was ready to call it quits! mason and i returned to the car for a bottle, while my dad and the rest of the family grabbed photos of the rest of the grounds...
