sorry, grandparents

between the three straight weeks of brad on night shift and the house-is-in-shambles kitchen renovation project, the blog has taken a severe hit on the priority list. here's a quick photo of madison snoozing through dinner tonight to tide you over. i have never been so ready to cook in my life! :)

cereal lessons

unlike her big brother who scarfed down rice cereal the first time we let it touch his lips, madison has not taken a liking to solid foods yet. this photo was our second attempt and mason thought he'd help his sister by showing her what to do. he did a great job, but as you can see from her face (and the full bowl), she wasn't convinced. she loves the high chair, just not the rice cereal!

there's popcorn in the bible?

we interrupt this blog break for a mason moment. nevermind that madison celebrated 4 months of life last week - i'm still behind on that! :)

last night as i was tucking mason into bed we were reading his book of bible stories. we read all about moses and how his mommy put him in a basket to float down the river to safety. then mason lost interest and starting flipping through the book looking for the "popcorn story." for the life of me, i didn't have a clue what he was talking about. he turned page after page but couldn't find it.

so tonight, we climbed into bed and he asked to start reading where we left off yesterday. we did, and sure enough, after the burning bush scene and the escape from egypt, we found the "popcorn." it turns out that the manna God provided to the hebrews in the wilderness looks like popcorn to mason. the boy loves popcorn and i'm pretty sure that he's now convinced that God does too. :)

we love to watch madison go from flat on her tummy to the cobra stance. she can get even higher up than this!

a little bit about our 4 month old

confession: i forgot to take the "official" 4 month photos. you know, the ones with the 4 month sticker. oops.

good news: i did take photos of madison during her 4th month!

the 4th month revealed that much like the rest of her family, madison has terrible allergies. she sneezed and hacked and took benadryl pretty much every night. we felt bad for her, but we felt bad too, since we basically exhibited the same behavior (except we could take better drugs).

her doctor's appointment went well. daddy took her in the day before because i was concerned about her allergies and dr. ferschtman ended up doing her well check-up a day early to save us another trip. very thoughtful of him, but unfortunately, that meant i missed the appointment! and wouldn't you know, brad didn't make it home with the paperwork that tells us her stats! :)

a quick phone call (and a authorization to release medical records... so odd that it was required even though i'm her parent!), we received the paperwork in the mail. so without further adieu, here's our girl's numbers:

height: 25 7/8" (90th percentile)
weight: 14 lbs, 12 oz (70th percentile)
head: 39.3 cm (20th percentile)

now that i'm finally looking at these, i'm pretty sure they measured her head wrong because she was in the 50th percentile 2 months ago! oh well.

our girl rolls and rolls and rolls, LOVES tummy time, sleeps through the night (8 pm to 6:15 am), and giggles when tickled. and she is the perfect addition to our family. we love you so much, madison!

hoppy easter!

pardon the pun. while easter is much more meaningful to our family than the title suggests, we have a couple of cute bunnies around here that wanted to make a quick appearance.
