The birthday boy...

I say it every year, but I just can't get over how big my boy is getting. I can remember almost every detail about getting him here and it does NOT feel like six years have gone by!

Mason had a great day today! I worked from home today, so I offered to take Madison to school so Brad could ride bikes with Mason to school. He was so excited to go that I didn't even get a picture before they took off down the street!

Next up, I surprised him at lunchtime at school with Chickfila and baseball cupcakes. He was shocked to see me (the school made an exception for the no parent visits before Sept 15) and I loved getting to eat with him and meet his classmates.

After school, he went to Kids R Kids (he still says his favorite part of the day is riding the bus and playing in the gym), Brad and I picked Mason & Madison up and showed him his present... a new basketball! He was grinning ear-to-ear, then sheepishly added "you know, Mommy, I hope we can get a new basketball goal one day." It really made my heart smile. He was so careful to not sound ungrateful for his new ball and he truly didn't expect anything else.

So I told him to go check the back of daddy's truck...

I wish I could say the new goal magically assembled itself, but 4 adults and 2 hours later (thanks sweet neighbors!) we were finally in business.

We grabbed pizza for dinner so Mason and daddy could play some basketball and just enjoyed family time before Brad headed to work.

Happy birthday, Mason! You are still the light of our lives and we are honored to be your parents as you continue to grow into the man God created you to be. Thank goodness we have a few more years until that manhood stuff starts ;)

We love you!!

Sibling love

... And perhaps 2.5 seconds away from a wrestling match ;)

Cool cat...

This photo makes me smile. I love how "cool" he looks in the sunglasses, how big he is in his seat, and how he's still holding on to a stuffed monkey that was tied to the top of the diaper cake at his baby shower. No matter how big he gets, he's still my baby <3

You never outgrow superheroes...

These costumes may be from 2 halloweens ago, but it just goes to show that you never outgrow superheroes!

Out of the mouths of babes...

A recent conversation at Lupe Tortilla during a game of "I spy":

Mommy: I spy with my little eye something grey!

Mason: Daddy's hair!

Daddy:

There's a reason it's called a merry-go-round

We can't visit the mall without a ride on the carousel. They both love it, although one is better at playing it cool :)

Handsome...

Love this adorable boy!

Can't leave out brother...

Silly boy! Not sure where he learned to make duck lips, but he sure knows how to strike a pose!

Forts are fun

Mason loves a good fort/tent. He built this one Friday morning and it stayed up through Sunday. He played in it, napped in it (once), and slept in it both Friday and Saturday night!

Perhaps the best part, though, is that he tore it down and cleaned up the whole mess on his own Sunday morning. I love to see glimpses of responsibility creeping into his character!

Because some days just need a cupcake...

And not to be outdone, here's big brother:

My two front teeth

A lot can happen in 24 hours. Case in point:

January 16:
After weeks of his tooth "hanging by a thread," it finally fell out at school. We placed it on his nightstand for the tooth fairy and he went to sleep.

January 17:
Sometime during the night, he lost the other one. After a panicked trip downstairs to report it was missing, he found the second tooth in his bed. The tooth fairy has been quite busy these days!

Stuffed

Oh to have this little monkey's metabolism... 3 slices of pizza, 3 bananas (he snuck 2 of them), 8 strawberries and a bunch of grapes within 2.5 hours. My somach hurts just thinking about it!

Rockin' out with Special K

To celebrate Brad's birthday last month, Grammy took everyone to (an amazing) dinner. We ate and ate, then Kasey & Mason gave us their best rock star poses. He sure does love his Special K!

I mustache you a question...

How adorable am I?

Mason posing with his teacher Ms. Amy on the 100th day of school. I didn't see the memo on dressing up until 9 pm the night before... Turns out we're more equipped to look 40 than we are 100 (except for the missing teeth)! The mustache started out quite conservative, but Mason asked Ms. Amy to add some flair during the day. Such a ham!

Creative play

We were recently invaded by a horse-riding, Viking/power ranger zombie!

Just another day in Reece's pieces paradise!

Halloween fun

It was a day of dress up today, especially after the bad weather knocked out the electricity at the kids' school, so we had an unexpected day with mommy (while she tried to work from home).

Madison and Mason both love to play with costumes, but Madison went all out today! I was worried she wouldn't wear her real Halloween costume tonight after she REFUSED to put it on this morning, but she rocked the Minnie Mouse outfit (complete with ears) for the whole trick or treat adventure.

I love how they posed together in both photos - such sibling love!

Bubbles!

We love bubbles! Madison knows as soon as dinner is over, it is bubble time. She runs to the bathroom yelling "bubbles" and starts trying to climb in the tub - with or without clothes on!

Madison says cheese!

Today

Breakfast before church turned into soggy-up-to-my-calves event when the rain left the parking lot flooded

Big boy waiting for his Sunday school class to open

Sister still loves spaghetti!

Baseball baby

We finally took the plunge. Mason has always LOVED sports, but we hadn't yet signed him up to play on a real team until this fall. He's now playing K-ball with the local little league organization.

While Mason is loving every minute (except that his first game was supposed to be today and was rained out), I hadn't really thought about the fact that Madison would instantly become a baseball baby since she has to come to all the practices and games too!

So far, she's taking it all in stride. I'm just waiting for her to run out on the field and try to play!

She loves cheering for her "may may." Such a sweet sister!
