Easter fun

Daddy worked the entire Easter weekend, but we managed to entertain ourselves. Thankfully our church had a Saturday night service, so Brad met us there as his shift was ending (it's always interesting to see people's reactions when the uniformed state trooper walks into the church). The kids and I headed to Grammy & Pappy's on Sunday for good food, egg hunting and fun. Sunday night we hunted a few more eggs at home so Daddy could get in on some Easter action.

The weather was gorgeous and it is FINALLY feeling a bit like spring!

Halloween fun

It was a day of dress up today, especially after the bad weather knocked out the electricity at the kids' school, so we had an unexpected day with mommy (while she tried to work from home).

Madison and Mason both love to play with costumes, but Madison went all out today! I was worried she wouldn't wear her real Halloween costume tonight after she REFUSED to put it on this morning, but she rocked the Minnie Mouse outfit (complete with ears) for the whole trick or treat adventure.

Two peas in a pod

Despite the 3+ year age difference, Mason and Madison are like two peas in a pod. She loves to do what big brother is doing and he absolutely adores her (95% of the time).

Over the long Easter weekend, we checked out a new (to us) park. They pretty much did everything together...

thankful

of all the blessings in my life, these take the cake...

a pre-thanksgiving treat

thanks to brad's long weekend, we were able to sneak in a visit to granny & papa's last week. we hit the road at 8 am thursday for the 7 hour drive. we stopped once for a potty break and then for a late lunch in ruston where we had the pleasure of meeting up with will & jennifer for a quick visit. since we were already in the neighborhood, we drove through campus (my how it has changed!) and stopped in the bookstore to pick up new tech shirts for me and mason.

madison was quite enamored by the dawg house...

we continued on and finally made it to tallulah. with a 4 day trip we were able to see a bunch of the family and the kids were happy to run/crawl around and play wherever we ended up.

we snuck off with granny on friday to take a few photos, scope out a new playground and eat lunch at brad's favorite vicksburg eating establishment taco casa.

per usual, the visit was too short. but we still managed to pack in tons of eating, pecan picking, squirrel hunting, playing and cuddling in papa's chair.

we hated to leave, but we're so glad granny & papa got some quality snuggle time in with mason and madison. we hope to see you soon!

superhero halloween!

here they come to save the day! batman and wonder woman teamed up this halloween to save the rest of the neighborhood from rotting teeth by collecting as much candy as they could from the sweet neighbors gathered in their driveways.

it got dark much earlier than i expected, so our photos are limited to the couple of quick shots taken in the living room before heading out. we were in a bit of a hurry since brad had to work that night at 8 pm.

wonder woman's arm shields lasted about 2.5 seconds...

batman couldn't wait to hit the streets. his glow in the dark necklace increased visibility and was a "cool" accessory

when we headed outside, madison chilled in the stroller while her batman brother took the lead showing us which houses he wanted to visit. i'm not sure what his criteria was, but we skipped about a third of the houses as we went around the block. batman was also a little shy as he approached each homeowner. after a couple of quiet encounters, i tried to help him by telling the candygivers that our batman was a little shy. after 3 more houses, mason said, "mommy, please don't tell them i'm shy!"

we agreed that i wouldn't say that if he would speak up and say "trick or treat!" and "thank you" loud enough for them to hear him. he held up his end of the bargain and so did i. 

one very full bucket later, we returned home. wonder woman got a little whiny toward the end of our adventure, but it was past her bedtime, so we let it slide! 

both of their costumes were just a tish big, so we expect this dynamic superhero duo to make several reappearances in the future. after all, mason still stuffs himself in last year's spiderman costume every time we skype with granny and papa ;)
