Homerun boy

We celebrated a milestone yesterday as Mason hit not one, but TWO "homeruns" over the fence in our backyard. Brad has been challenging Mason to knock one out of the proverbial park as he pitches to him and our boy delivered!

You should have seen Brad beaming. And Mason too - he strutted around the backyard declaring himself the "homerun boy!" In the process of all his hits, Mason managed to destroy the new wiffle balls I bought him three days earlier. Looks like we'll be moving on to tennis balls (I'm not quite ready to have baseballs crash through my windows).

Play ball!

Sibling love

While we occasionally have brother/sister showdowns, most of the time Mason & Madison get along really well. They truly adore each other. Mason is a great big brother, looking out for his little sister and making sure that all is right in her world.

Here are a couple of photos from tonight's dinner of their sibling love.

And what an awesome brother - he keeps smiling even when Madison puts him in a headlock...

Can you write that down?

More car convos with Mason...

Mason: When can we go to the big church again?

Background info: Our church has two buildings - our regular service is in the small building but our small group meets in the big building. We've been on hiatus for the last month from our weekly meetings.

Mommy: We're going next Monday.

Mason: In the morning?

Mommy: No, we'll go after school.

Mason: Can we eat supper there?

Mommy: Yes, we will probably eat supper there.

Mason: OK good. Can we pick up chick-a-play and eat it there.

Mommy: Yes, we can probably pick up Chick-fil-a to eat next Monday.

Mason: Can you write that down?

Mommy: Are you afraid I'm going to forget?

Mason: Yes! Please write it down because I really want to go to the big church and eat chick-a-play.

Well alright then. Apparently this old lady can't remember things :)

First time for everything

Despite the fact that I have been encouraging this behavior for a week (after she showed initial interest), it was daddy who witnessed the first real action on the potty.

I'll spare you the other photo that Brad texted me :/

We're nowhere near being potty trained but she is certainly recognizing when things are happening, so it's a start! Way to go Madison!

Car talk

While driving home from school yesterday, Mason and I were discussing an odd assortment of topics. Somehow I mentioned that daddy was a man and Mason protested. "Mom, stop calling him that!," he said.

"Mason, daddy is a man," I said.

"Do you like to be called an old lady?"

"Um, no."

"Then stop calling daddy a man. He doesn't like it either."

Well ok then. Not sure how that came to be, but it did provide a good giggle for the rest of the ride. :)

Fun at Grammy's

You never know what you're gonna find at Grammy's house... Tractors, scooters, toys, and 30+ year old dance costumes... Fun times!

Oh yeah, and Mason had fun too!

7 months later...

These kids have done a lot of growing in the last 7 months... Case in point:
